A suburb is a residential area or a mixed use area, either existing as part of a city or urban area or as a separate residential community within commuting distance of a city; suburb is also space of marginality, abandonment, inattention, dysfunctionality.
Suburbs can be economically distressed area with higher delinquency rates and social problems. The space that I explored lives “in between”, suspended between the known city and the other side, a quickly receding, fragmented idea of nature. Often there is a human presence, but not ever it is a real protagonist of the scene.

Periferia è un luogo da intendersi non solo in senso geografico, in quanto zona separata dal centro di una città, ma anche in una prospettiva multidimensionale, quale spazio che può essere definito di volta in volta in modo diverso, in rapporto alle dinamiche economiche e sociali dominanti: spazio della marginalità, dell’abbandono, della disattenzione, della disfunzionalità.
Spesso le periferie sono aree economicamente in difficoltà con un alto tasso di delinquenza e molti problemi a livello sociale. I luoghi che ho esplorato rappresentano zone al limite, sospese tra il centro storico e le altre zone residenziali, una sfuggente, frammentata idea di natura. La figura umana è spesso presente, ma è più una macchietta che una reale protagonista della scena.
