“Among” is a series documenting areas subject to strong sea erosion. In the case of Italy, this pertains to approximately 1500 km of the coastline.
Changes in the extremely delicate marine and fluvial balance are shaping new landscapes composed of fragments of fallen roads, skeletons of suspended bridges, debris of illegally constructed houses, and natural landscapes, all of which the sea has engulfed and transformed.
The project aims at evoking this transition through images taken during twilight, the period when light diffuses creating an indefinite temporal dimension: the so-called “blue hour”.
Long exposures consent an evanescence of land and sea. Day and night fuse together in an apparent liquid unity, suggesting transformation the central theme of the work.
